I don't really see how Hyperbole and a Half is a horrible person? I haven't gone through the whole archive, but to me it seems as though the more selfish stories are all from her childhood. Which, whatever. Kids are selfish jerks a lot of the time. I don't think they make her a bad person today.

Yeah, I was about to post the same thing.

I don't read the other blog because I never heard of it, but this secret is not making me feel like checking it out to be honest. (Not that the secret is that blogger's fault or anything, but still.)

I kinda have trouble seeing how one person's negative opinion of a blog you like is making you never want to check out a blog they like? I'm still going to look it up. More awesome blogs = more awesomeness in my life

I don't mean I've decided that now I'll never read it, just that this secret doesn't make me feel like finding it because it's so negative. Also I hardly read any blogs, so there's that.

If the secret had only been about how they didn't like Hyperbole and a Half I wouldn't have that reaction, but this is more "She's a bad person and people have no taste unlike me!"

I'll admit it's unfair though. (Maybe I should have just stuck with saying that.)

I feel the same way about not really being interested in Books of Adam now simply because OP's secret works essentially as the exact opposite of an endorsement. They hate something I love and want me to love something else? Well, I probably won't because I love the thing they hate.

I think taste is a little more complicated than that. My brother loves many things I hate and hates many things I love, but it would be silly to assume that EVERYTHING he loves I will hate or vice-versa, since there are a few things we both love.

It sounds more like OP wants to bury Hyperbole and a Half than to invite other people to read the other blog they like so much, and that just doesn't sit well with me.

I understand the sentiment; we've all been there, right? "I wish so and so shitty thing didn't exist/wasn't so popular when there are similar, better things!" But it comes across as so acidic and vengeful from the other side of it...

All of her adulthood stories are mostly about things pretty much any person can relate to-being responsible, depression, and dealing with pets. I don't get where OP is getting "horrible person" from.
