I gotta kinda agree. It would have been better if it had been one movie, or split into two parts instead of three. Because I really loved several individual bits of it, but all together...the story was just very thin for a three-hour movie.

Same here. I absolutely loved parts of it, but two movies would've been the best. Or, if they really wanted a trilogy, the movies all don't have to be three-hours long.

I'm looking to fans making an edited version like some have done with the Star Wars prequels.

A friend pointed out that a lot of the criticisms that are being made come straight from the book, which after all is a pretty thin kids' story compared to the trilogy. I think PJ did the best he could to beef it up while staying within canon, but better pacing definitely would have helped.

I also wish, given that they Martin Freeman as Bilbo, that they'd kept the focus on Bilbo and not tried to balance the attention equally with all the Dwarves. I felt that Bilbo got lost in a lot of the story.
