"off" as this secret may be, I didn't know TWD fandom was full of so many assholes. Your interpretation may not be my interpretation, but I don't see the point in calling it "bullshit" but then again, I'm new to the fandom and haven't read the comics. Also new to FS, is everyone generally an asshole until given a REALLY good reason not to be?

But seriously, sorry if my getting angry over yet another example of a woman getting blamed for the actions of a man (and Lori gets blamed for Shane's actions and death all the time) is upsetting for you. :(

It's not upsetting, it's just surprising to see how some people are treating each other. I'm not like a hand-holding feel-gooder but some of these threads are just brutal. Lots of troll accusing when it isn't necessary, lots of name-calling and laughing. I just wonder what happened to these people to make them so bitter :/

There's some context for TWD secrets around here. The last two or three weeks have had at least three secrets about what a poor innocent woobie the Governor is and how bad and mean and evil Michonne is, so a lot of people here are kind of sick of TWD fans acting like "attractive" male characters who are murderers and would-be rapists are sweet and innocent, while blaming female characters for everything those men ever did wrong. So in addition to the woobifying and misogyny, there's an element of "here we go again..."

I've heard people here say that the "death" of the zombie that used to be his daughter was the cause of the Governor's psychotic break at the end of the mid-season finale -- as if he hadn't already had one a long time ago.

And the fact that people are saying there was anything wrong with Michonne killing a zombie that the man who tried to have her killed just for trying to leave, and who then tortured and sexually assaulted another woman, was emotionally attached to, is pretty ridiculous in itself.

Robert Kirkman: "I think she definitely broke him emotionally by killing Penny, which is not something that she does in the comics. So I think, to a certain extent, it is possible that this is actually a little bit more brutal than that."

She threw gasoline on the fire. I think he's probably going to be a more dangerous threat now.

And the fact that people are saying there was anything wrong with Michonne killing a zombie that the man who tried to have her killed just for trying to leave, and who then tortured and sexually assaulted another woman, was emotionally attached to, is pretty ridiculous in itself.

If it was Glenn or Maggie who had killed Penny to hurt the Governor, I wouldn't have blamed them, just like I don't blame Michonne for torturing him in the comics after he raped her.

But I don't think the Governor hurt Michonne enough in the show to to warrant destroying him the way she did.

And if she was smart, she could have used Penny as leverage to rescue Glenn and Maggie and get everyone out of town. Who knows, maybe even sparing Penny might have softened the Governor a little and he would have left the prison alone.

Not really, but having some asshole murdering rapist-wannabe dude turned into a giant woobie and having everything bad he ever did in the canon blamed on a woman tends to get people's dander up around here.

Not everyone but it happens more often than not. I took a break from F!S on LJ for about two years and was really shocked when I started watching it here on DW a few months ago. There are certain near-universal F!S attitudes about certain fandoms and it's really easy to get on people's bad side if you don't know what they are. The only ones I can ever remember are TWD: Lori was an awful character but doesn't deserve fandom's hatred and isn't at fault for anything (or maybe it's she isn't at fault for anything Rick or Shane did but she's a bad mother- I get a little fuzzy on that one), The Big Bang Theory is Bad and Racist and The Most Evil Show Ever, in Skyfall, Q isn't deserving of all the internet love and shipping Bond/Q is a No-No, and Doctor Who is a fandom that you're best not even reading the secrets for because you WILL have the Wrong Favourite Doctor (or Companion) and you will be A Bad Fan for not watching Classic Who or you will be A Bad Fan for watching Classic Who or you will love/hate Steven Moffat and whichever one it is will be wrong.

Oh, and if someone posts a secret for a media type that less than 100k people around the world know about, you must comment (signed in, of course) with "Awwwww, a [fandom name] secret" or you are worthless.

And occasionally, people will participate in things that they have nothing but dislike for, causing the rest of the comm to wonder why they watch the show/play the game/visit the Dreamwidth community in the first place, when it seems like they'd get more enjoyment out of taking up crochet or something.

Sorry to say, but the rampant assholes are the reason why I stay out of the fandom unless I'm looking for a fight.
