But good goddess, the Lord of the Rings...that just killed me. By the time the first Ringwraith came along I was shouting 'get on with the damned story!' at the book, and just gave up.

As is, the author writing that X the Magnificent is the greatest knitter in the land of Y! And then never actually describing X knitting or describing X's magnificent knit creations.
