I like, maybe even prefer, the US version of The Ring over the Japanese original. The female character is given more to do, and the fact that she's an investigative reporter ends up being more relevant in that she has to investigate Samara's background instead of that background just being given to the main characters though supernatural means.

I like the US version of The Ring better, too. But maybe it's just because I saw it first.

Same, and I saw Ringu first. The characters are stronger, the special effects are better, and best of all there's not random, pointless psychic subplot.
