I swear, pony fandom is the scariest fandom I have come across and that is saying a lot.

Yeeeeah, I'm inclined to agree.

imho, the only ones that come close are Homestuck, Supernatural, and either Sherlock or Avengers (your pick). But Bronies... they're something else altogether.

It's like they've reached a whole new low that I didn't think was possible.

Like, I've seen crazy or creepy fans but they tend to be a very small minority or even an individual that the fandom as a whole condemns. But with pony fandom these same fans that are shunned in other fandoms are a lot larger group and because of that, can keep each other strong. They can even challenge the regular fans in strength.

It seems like it's less what they do and more the fact they they're such a large group and that the main, regular fandom seems to be the one that's in the minority.

Not to mention a fair majority of Bronies tend to wield the most powerful thing when it comes to merchandise driven shows: money. Maybe even moreso than the parents of the target age group the series was intended for.

At least, that's the impression I got from my brief time in MLP fandom.

One Direction fans, and I say this as one of them.

It might be different because the fandom is primarily made up of teenage girls who have the potential to know better and learn from their mistakes but the vast majority of them are disgustingly racist, misogynistic, homophobic and Islamophobic, and whenever they get called out on it, they get angry at you and say they're just joking and why won't you let them have fun. And oh god, that's without delving into the Larry Stylinson debacle, that's another thing altogether.
