I just want to point out that those Korean boyband members are actually fashionable in Korea. While it's true that their hairstyles tend to be more dramatic/out there than what people on the street wear, the basic cuts are often the same. Many guys in Korea* dress fancy even every day, wear nice shoes, sparkly flowered ties, and take care of their skin. Given the popularity of plastic surgery, plenty of them are quite good looking.
In short, yes. A fashionable, well-dressed, "pretty" Korean male character can count as an "actual, well fleshed out" character. Depending on what demographic the character is supposed to be from, it might be pretty realistic to have them look that way.

*of course it varies by demograph etc.

This. I do a lot of shopping on Asian clothing websites because they're actually designed to fit people like me (a petite, small-busted woman) and most of the men's clothing styles you see there DO look like the kind of thing Korean boybands wear.

exactly! Boy's clothes in Korea is the best thing ever XD I actually bought some myself...
And I'll add that spiked hair is actually extremely popular in Japan. Fine, they don't look like Goku, but the style is similar - only less ridiculous.

I think it's interesting that there's this reactionary image of what an Asian should look like, which really expresses Western perceptions more than Asian ones...
