This is an interesting point. Usually it's considered very rude to give unsolicited concrit about somebody's appearance.

That's because there's a difference between walking out the door wearing something and posting photos of your outfit for the day on a site like tumblr or What I Wore Today. In the latter case, you should absolutely expect comments.

Posting fanfic on your own journal or on a site with comments disabled is like the former. Posting it on an open forum is like the latter.

No, posting fic with "C&C Please" in the header is the latter.

Assume nobody is super interested in your detailed opinion until they give a clear indication that they do want it, it is not rocket science.
