Of course not. I would hope no one finds it hot.

But that's not the point. You seem to assume that people with rape kinks don't understand that rape is horrific in real life. But usually, that isn't the case. It's possible to enjoy a fantasy of something, when it's just fantasy or consensual roleplay, without finding it arousing when it's done non-consenusally in real life.

I have several kinks that, in real life, would be abusive or harmful. I'm well aware of it, and I don't feel like it's something I need to justify. It's not like my morality is inconsistent. I see a clear difference between fantasizing about a fictional character or roleplaying with a happy, consenting partner, and real people being hurt. The former is arousing, the latter makes me feel disgusted and angry.

Also, most people do not get off to characters suffering serious harm.

What happened to this woman is horrific. I think the fact that people are capable of being that violent and cruel is a hell of a lot more puzzling than people indulging in kinks that don't actually involve hurting anyone. I don't have much trouble understanding kinks, but I can't relate to the cruelty and lack of empathy that rapists display.

You get off to fictional incest? Does that mean thinking about fucking your irl relatives gets you off? Likely not. You get off to violence and knifeplay? Does that mean hearing about real life stabbings and brutally violent acts gets you off? Likely not.

Just because OP can't separate fantasy and reality doesn't mean the rest of us can't.
