+1

And the TOTAL BROADWAY THEATER NERDS spend their time compiling and "trading" bootlegs of Broadway productions. Because they're such excellent and awesome fans.

http://bwaytrading.weebly.com/

Oh and on LJ: http://musicalexchange.livejournal.com/

With all the time they spend uploading and downloading stolen material, they could get a job and buy a ticket to see the real thing.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-31 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I'm assuming you're a troll. But in case you aren't? They've probably seen that musical live more times than there are bootlegs available. It's not that expensive either if you live in London or NY, it's pretty easy to get cheap tickets for good seats. Tours are great too, I have no idea why you'd think they were lower end productions.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-31 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh look! And you're spending your thought, your wasted potential, on delineating what makes a fan and what doesn't. You could be doing something that actually benefits yourself or humanity. Instead, you're delineating boundaries for your fandom.

Aren't you special. Aren't you worthy of recognition. I'm sure you will be remembered after you die, because your work on who and who is not worthy of calling him/herself a Les Miserables fan is very, very important. Nobel Prize, I mean fucking shit! This MATTERS!*

*to pathetic idiots who think that a particular manner of consuming entertainment is superior. Nevermind that said idiots are still CONSUMING ENTERTAINMENT rather than doing anything of actual worth. Nevermind that said idiots never produce anything that propel society forward, or that helps in any meaningful sense. You all just sit there and whine while doing absolutely nothing. How about that?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-31 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Eh. Broadway sucks. I've seen Cats, Les Mis, Miss Saigon, Wicked, Crazy For You, and Phantom on Broadway. Except for Les Mis and CFY, they all sucked.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-31 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
As odds go, one out of three isn't all that bad.

uh huh

Why would you go see anything by Andrew Lloyd Webber, jw.

. . .as a 'fake theater nerd' who lives an hour from the exact center of North America, I thoroughly appreciate the linkage to the bootlegs of the Broadway productions.

Also fuck you for being elitist, I can't afford to go to New York whenever I want, or even to Minneapolis, which, btw, has the second most number of theater seats in the US after NYC and houses the Nationally Acclaimed Guthrie, but yeah also totally not legitimate or anything.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-31 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
lol nobody will actually give you DL links unless you have something to trade, moron.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-31 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
That's what the internet is for.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-31 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
You mean I've made a good go at filling up my hard drive with mythical free bootlegs? Huh.

It's really sad that you have nothing better to do with your day than to call me a moron and to be an elitist. I really hope these small comforts help to soothe the fact that being in close proximity to a Broadway stage hasn't made you a better person, despite your apparent efforts to the contrary.

You could try asking glassprism on tumblr? Check her trade tag (http://glassprism.tumblr.com/tagged/trading). Hope that helps! :)

Seconding glassprism for being awesome

>>>Also fuck you for being elitist

LOL, you actually said that. Hahhaha. I'm amused. I saw LES Mis with cheap tickets in London when I lived there, once. It was passably amusing. But elite, so not. This musical, is the least elite musical ever, in fact, only Andrew Lloyd Webber could be less elite.

I mean, geez, this musical is positively proletariat. Yeah, pun intended.

I'm not saying they're elitist because they went. I'm saying they're elitist because they think they're great for having seen it. And they're lording the complications of travel that people have and saying because they can't fly out to new york all the time it makes them bad fans. It doesn't. And it doesn't make them better for having the luxury to do so.

Note to self, must stay away from this fandom.

[personal profile] biohazardgirl 2012-12-31 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not even in this fandom, I just enjoy musicals and don't like being talked down to for enjoying them in the 'wrong' way.

But judging from this thread and the amount of assholes in it I'm glad I'm not in it either, and I hope all of them stay away from my actual fandoms if they always act this asshole-ish online.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-31 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
Only Lloyd-Webber? Don't forget Wildhorn! Or Schwartz, who wrote Wicked, which must be some kind of theatre-snob sin. I mean, if we're going for "What musical theatre composer can you safely admit to liking in front of theatre-snob friends?", Sondheim is pretty much the only safe bet. Me, I freely admit to having no taste, so I can enjoy everything. I find it's less work than figuring out composer hierarchy.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-31 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)
So basically, what you're trying to say is...you're also an elitist. But you're a better elitist than someone who likes Les Miserables.

You're an elite elitist! An elitist^2! A moon in my hammy!

I also want you to take your classist shit and shove it up your ass.

Christly fuck, the snobs in this thread. *shakes head*

[personal profile] wauwy 2012-12-31 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
HAHAHAHA is the entire Broadway fandom like this? How embarrassing for you.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-31 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It'd be a lot easier for us "excellent" fans if certain companies would just produce official DVDs of shows :/
