Single-handedly *stop* the war? She started it. She's just as much as an idiot as her husband and son.

How did she start the war? Was it holding hostage Jaime Lannister?

I've read some of the first book, but didn't get all the nuances, and all the names so some of this is lost on me.

Kidnapping Tyrion.

NA

She takes Tyrion Lannister (the dwarf) prisoner, which causes tensions to boil over. It would have happened anyway, but it was Cateyn's actions that caused everything to explode.

It's a bit like how the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria started WWI.

Well, taking Tyrion hostage ended up being the spark that set things off, but you can't blame the whole thing on her because... yeah. Tywin was spoiling for a fight and used the Tyrion situation as an excuse to start shit and sack the Riverlands.

ayrt

This does make the most sense. From what I've heard of Tywin he seems he'll use any excuse to start a war.

Also it all would have blown over, had Ned not attempted a coup to kick Joffrey off the throne.

idts. No one is as much of an idiot as the Stark men.
