For me, the most batshit is definitely Hetalia. I think it might even be on the Top 10 Most Batshit Fandoms Ever, if such a list existed.

As for the least batshit, that honour goes to Tron. It's the only fandom where I have never encountered wank of any kind. Not even shipping wank. It's a nice change from the batshittery that goes on in all my other fandoms.

I'm just going to say 'Any fandom graced by a visit from Amy Player'.

hahahaha I was deeply involved in Harry Potter fandom during Potterdammerung. That's what I call batshit.

Then I moved on to Supernatural and Sherlock.

I think I need to look at my life and my choices.

Least batshit I've been in is probably Dollhouse. Sure, tiny fandom, but rather level-headed. No ship wars. We generally all agree on things, with some variation.

Most batshit is at the moment a shared honor between Supernatural and Transformers, Teen Wolf is approaching close by. When you have people claiming that they are married to giant imaginary robots, it's very hard to top.

Least batshit would be Gargoyles. I saw next to no wank when I was still in the fandom, and it remains my favorite.

I think it's only minor batshit, but The Last Airbender franchise in general. Monster High is probably the chillest - the only people we seem to dislike are scalpers.

I cosplayed Hetalia with some friends. ...I completely avoid the fandom aside from that, because yes, the Hetalia fandom is way, way up there, going by every interaction I have had with Hetalia fans besides my friends. Kingdom Hearts seems pretty awful too, enough that I've avoided playing any more than the first game in part so I won't want to interact with fandom. :P

Maybe it's just because I'm older, but most of the fandoms I actually do participate in seem quite sane. It may just be my corner. I never actually see wank among my friends who do Harry Potter stuff, for instance, but I know it's a wanky fandom... and aside from some conversations with Orangeblossom and Victoria Bitters/Mr. Frodo back in the day, I never directly was involved with anything wanky about LotR. I get the impression Tiger & Bunny is wanky on Tumblr, but I don't do Tumblr, so...

Vagrant Story might be least wanky ever, simply because it was so tiny. We were all ecstatic just to find other fans, why would we want to be wanky at them? ;)

I have seen no wank at all in Die Hard fandom which is awesome.

I tend to stay out of the classically batshit fandoms (Supernatural, I'm looking at you), so the most batshit that I've actually been in would have to be the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom, way back when, if only because if you had a basic understanding of the show's premise and read enough fanfic, you could write fanfic entirely indistinguishable from the popular stuff XD

Least batshit...though I'm not really involved, my partner is, and I'd have to say it's a tie between Merlin and Good Omens.

Least batshit would be a kids' show called Reboot. Does anyone else remember that show? It was computer animated and about the 'people' who lived in your computer. Anyway. Those were the days of Geocities pages and webrings. Small fandom. I hung out on the newsgroup alt.tv.reboot, where we talked about a lot, but I don't recall any wank. One of the show's creators, Gavin Blair (I believe), even commented in threads sometimes, under the username Joxer the Mighty. It was all very nice.

#1 batshit: Fallout. #2 batshit: Thief. Least batshit: ... hard to say, really. Probably System Shock, mostly because I came in late, there's major segregation between SS and Thief fandoms (despite being centered at the same forum and coming from the same company) and most of the fandom are dour pedants who don't post.

Most batshit: KPop. Just...KPop.

Least batshit: LOTR

Most batshit: HP, LotR, Teen Wolf, J-Pop fandoms
Least Batshit: Bomb Girls, Being Human UK (... that may just be because I have major problems even finding fandoms for these, so maybe I've just avoided the wank)

Most, Harry Potter. I'd class Elementary in this too, but most of the drama is from Sherlock fans who still can't get over there being another adaptation at the same time as theirs. So I wouldn't really count that as in-fandom drama.

Least? Red vs Blue. Thinking about it, there's like...pretty much no drama at all. No ship wars (most of us multi-ship anyway), no loud yelling (some good debates/meta though), just good fun.

In terms of batshit insanity, ignorance, oversimplification, and generally inappropriate and immature behavior, Hetalia.

A lot of the things going on in that fandom really are inexcusable, but I think part of it is that there are also a lot of very young fans who genuinely don't know how to behave. Add in the fact that it deals with real world history, and there's a lot more potential for things to go horribly wrong.

I've certainly never been in a fandom that was this petty and hateful before.

It seems like this really needs an adjustment for size of fandom. Most of the ones mentioned as most batshit have been big ones, and the least batshit ones fairly small.

Most batshit: Harry Potter, but...it's Harry Potter. Dunno if that counts.

Least batshit: maybe The West Wing? Then again, I came in late, long after the show went off the air, so I probably just missed all the pretentious character-bashing and shipping and sniveling that probably went on. For a runner up, I'll say Star Trek. Then again, I've stayed far, far away from nu!Trek stuff (easier than you think!).

Most batshit: Potterfandom, by a nose. I was peripherally but regularly involved in the HP and LotR fandoms when they hit their high wank watermarks, and my personal experience was that HP was worse, even allowing for the tinhatting.

Least batshit: See the icon. I have, in my entire time in the GB/RGB/XGB fandoms, seen exactly three examples of wank. One was a bunch of malefen having an "ew, slash!" bitchfest, one was a group of Egon/Janine shippers bashing every other ship in sight except for Peter/Dana, and one was a warnings clusterfuck that ended when a very active member flounced for semi-unrelated reasons. However, this is a small fandom, and very compartmentalized - the cosplayers who build detailed replicas of the movie equipment don't interact much with the ficcers and vice versa, although the fanartists do cross over somewhat. (Also, I got into the online fandom after the mailing-list era, so there may be vintage wank I never saw.)

Oddly enough, the most batshit fandom I've ever been in has been the Ben Drowned fandom. It might have something to do with the fact that the author actively engaged with us (until he ~~decided it wasn't worth dealing with the bullshit~~ got too busy with other stuff), but they were, without a doubt, some of the most obsessive, psychotic, and downright vicious people I've ever met.

Least batshit...I'm gonna skip that one because I don't think I've been in a fandom that deserves that title.

Most batshit: X/1999. Hell, I contributed to a lot of that batshit back in the day, I have nothing to say for myself.

Least batshit: any FPS fandom. The drama's all on the "boy" side (blogging, videos, etc.) so to speak. The "girl" side (fics, fanart, etc.) has virtually no drama whatsoever. Alternatively, Weiss Kreuz, surprisingly enough. Everyone was very mature.

Most batshit: SPN. Just... SPN. Like, I've read about msscribe/ Cassie Claire in the HP fandom, know about Snape Wives, witnessed the Potterdammerung and the implosion of the good ship Harmony, as well as read 'When a Fan Hits the Shit' and all about tinhattery madness of LOTRRPS in the day on FW. And yet I still get shivers when I think of the amount of batshittery that happens on any given day in spn_gossip alone. Brrr.

That I've been in myself, Homestuck. I'd say MLP wins, but I'm not truly in it enough to count.

Least batshit?

Hmmm...

I'm sure there are exceptions to my experience, but Shojo Kakumei Utena when I was a teen. Yes, I watched this. Yes, I loved this.

I think the least batshit was High School Musical. There was a surprising amount of good fic, everyone was open to all kinds of pairings and multishipping and it was pretty nice and chill, at least in the spaces I hung out.

I guess AtLA for most batshit? But it was actually kind of okay in the beginning. I stopped participating when it started to go downhill.

Most batshit: Frankly, it's a tossup between Harry Potter and Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra and My Little Pony, both now and pre-Friendship Is Magic. "My ponies hate you now," anyone?

Anyway, the least wanky fandom I've ever been in was for the TV show Shark. It was very small, yes, and is quite dead now, but it was one of the most relaxed, easy-going fandoms I've ever had the privilege of being in.

I've been observing the Hiddles/Loki tumblr fandom. They're pretty intense though I wasn't around during the wife meltdown.
