Video games recs
Could you guys recommend some great and easy to find games to me? (And is that sentence grammatically correct?)
Re: Video games recs
(Anonymous) 2013-01-04 12:13 am (UTC)(link)YES.
For PS2:
Jak & Daxter, the Precursor Legacy (if I'm not mistaken - it's the first game in the series)
Ratchet & Clank I, II, III
I'm pretty sure you can still find them online or in stores like Dock Games/Cash Express/Easy Cash etc...
Great adventure/platform games.
elmaya
(ps: happy new year!)
Re: Video games recs
Looks like there's a Dock Games in Bordeaux, yay! I'll go take a look and see if they have these games.
Thanks!

Re: Video games recs
I'm a pretty casual player too, and I like pretty much all kinds of games (except most sports and racing games, but that's because I'm terrible at them).

Re: Video games recs
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence
Silent Hill 2
The Warriors
MGS3 is in the HD collection on PS3, but I think I ultimately prefer the original. The HD version gets about a B-grade in quality.
For PS3 you absolutely MUST get the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus HD re-releases, and buy Journey off PSN!
Re: Video games recs
I have some questions concerning PS3 games. Is it cheaper to buy the digital version? And if so, do all games get one?

Anyway now I regret it, I love that movie too

I don't know about PS1 games, since I've never played any.

Seconding the Metal Gear Solid series. Final Fantasy X (yes, I actually liked it; FFX-2 too, if you don't mind some silliness), Persona 3 FES (I never beat this...but I still like it enough to rec, so take that how you will), the Devil May Cry series, uh... and the Uncharted series. Infamous is good too!

It's the silliest game I've ever played, but it's also ridiculously fun.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-04 01:27 am (UTC)(link)if you can find them, the first 3 Spyro The Dragon games for the first PlayStation are the bomb (Spyro The Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage [in the USA]/Gateway to Glimmer [in the EU] and Spyro: Year of the Dragon). don't bother with Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly; it's terrible. Spyro: A Hero's Tail is decent, but it doesn't even compare to the first three. I've heard the Legend of Spyro trilogy is okay too, but it's more focused on combat than on exploring
the first Kingdom Hearts game is a must as well. I would hesitate to recommend Kingdom Hearts II, as it lost the emphasis on exploration and upped the angst and the bishounen characters up to eleven (although the combat system is better in it, and it has a funner shooter minigame); also it lost its colorfulness in the palette :(
if RPGs are your thing, anything by Square Enix is at least of decent quality, for both the first PlayStation and the PS2; but you might want to go around scouring for reviews and such to see what suits your tastes better
I hear that the games (RPGs) published by ATLUS are usually good too, but I never see them in stores where I live, so vOv
Xenosaga is a cool RPG if you are into Science Fiction, but it was part of a six part series that got unexpectedly reduced into a trilogy, so I hear that the other two games suffered
Re: Video games recs
I really love the Metal Gear Solid, Devil May Cry and God of War series. For RPGs I pretty much just played the Shin Megami Tensei (Nocturne is my favourite) and Persona (3 and 4) games. I bought Final Fantasy XII but never actually played it, lol.
PS3: Same series, though there is no MegaTen and the only Persona game is a fighting one (P4 Arena) and I have never played it. And I can't speak for any of the Final Fantasy XIII games.
Also, Mass Effect. The whole trilogy is available as a set now.
Assassin's Creed: The first is supposedly boring, but I love the games from ACII on.
If you're really into open world: Fallout? Skyrim? Though Fallout 3 is a tad buggy on PS3 and the Skyrim DLC isn't on PS3.. yet.
Other PS3 games I love are Demon's and Dark Souls, Call of Duty, the Uncharted series, Bayonetta and Catherine.
I've been meaning to get/play the Batman games (Arkham City and Arkham Asylum).
I'm sure there's a lot more but this comment is long enough, haha.
Re: Video games recs
I adore FFXIII and think it's underrated, but, uh, a lot of people disagree with me. I read it as some vicious trolling of JRPGs as a genre - almost all the characters obviously exist just to debunk a certain JRPG stereotype, and the entire world is made of meta. Unfortunately the very early part of the game is a bit excruciating for me, because your characters don't start gaining XP for the first couple of hours (not until they learn to use magic) and the lack of advancement made the gameplay feel pointless. Similarly the combat system is too basic early on - it gets very complex, strategic and fun by the endgame but wow does it take a while to get there.
FFXIII-2 has refined away everything that was wrong with FFXIII's combat system but unfortunately it sucks in all other respects.
Re: Video games recs
Jak and Daxer Precursor Legacy
Dark Cloud 1 & 2 (May or may not be hard to find. But if you ever see one, I'd recommend picking it up.)
Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland
Okami
PS3
Rune Factory: Oceans
Tales of Graces f
Heavy Rain
