There's a lot of essays about women liking yaoi dubcon/noncon because of how it's a way to enjoy such things without having to deal with all the depressing real world rape culture issues that spring up if it's a woman in the "uke" role.

I know this is true for some women and it's a very valid thing to discuss, but I hate how this is always the assumption for any woman who likes yaoi. I like yaoi (and other forms of gay porn) because I'm attracted to men and I like to see people who I'm attracted to having sex with each other.

This is also true. But since the OP said that she imagines herself as the young boy, I assume it's that way for her.

I don't think this is that unusual. I'm not attracted to people that young irl, but I do enjoy reading underage fic that involves a significant age gap, and I do the same thing and place myself in the role of the younger person.

I can understand in the sense that this feels like a different dynamic to a lot of people, "the mature woman teaching the innocent boy".

You like what you like,OP - just as long as you don't think it would actually be a-okay in real life.

Personally I think I could probably enjoy a story with a 15-16 year old in the setting, if written well. My usual problem with shota (and loli) is that in a lot of cases they look like they're 8 or less, and that just creeps me out in any dynamic. But I guess to some people that's exactly what they like.

Speaking of 15-16 yo setting, I got into a specific fandom when I was 17 and really liked this one pairing that involved a 15/16 yo female and a male of questionable but definitely older age. I recently revisited the fandom and still ship it. Now that I'm 23, I feel kind of like a creeper because of it. I've drawn fanart for DA of them and have had it reported and taken down for pedophilia/rape. It didn't even register in my mind until then that it was statutory rape.

Then I remember that when I was like 13 I liked the Older Rin/Sesshoumaru pairing....which I know realize was super squicky because it would practically be child grooming.

I noticed that in pairing like those, I tend to self insert as the younger person in fantasies like OP. Idk. I guess it seems less squicky that way.

Not trying to create wank, I'm speaking from experience. A lot of my favorite ships are ones where there's an older man with a teenage girl and even AFTER EXPLICITLY STATING MY GENDER AND THE FACT THAT I IDENTIFY WITH THE YOUNGER PERSON IN THE SCENARIO I have had the most horrible shit assumed about me, said about me, etc.
