Honestly, I love Tumblr, but this way of writing drives me up the fucking wall. Lots of the people I follow there , I used to talk to on other websites, but since they moved there, it's like they can't write anymore. I don't mind the memes or made up stuff like "feels", but random misspellings/no capitalization makes me irrationally angry. I get that it's supposed to convey... something, but I still don't get what kind of emotion a bunch of typos and lack of punctuation is supposed to convey.

I think part of why it annoys me so much is maybe because English is my second language, I guess. I spent years trying to learn how to write properly, AND THIS IS WHAT THE NATIVE SPEAKERS DO. UGH. Makes me want to headdesk.

OP here

Ugh I feel you. English is my second language too, and I struggle trying to make my writing sound natural (and most of the time it ends up sounding stilted anyway), so when I see a bunch of kids who have English as their first language make tons of mistakes on purpose (because come on, most of those typos aren't because of feels!!!!, they're deliberate) it's just... so frustrating. :/

I think it's actually supposed to convey how strong a feeling is, instead of an actual feeling specifically. That said, I agree. It's annoying as fuck, and sometimes it actually ended up giving me a headache when they were particularly bad with grammar/typos.

For the record, I'm a native speaker [and don't have the best grammar], but it still drives me up the wall.
