The sexiness of the the Goblin King should have made up for the all the other disgusting parts, yeah? He was a pretty hot CGI rendering.

That was the grossest thing in the movie to me, I couldn't concentrate on what was going on just looking at that swinging mass of skin/flesh.

Really? I am grossed out pretty easily but the stuff in that movie didn't bother me. Well maybe the scene where bilbo gets snot all over him but everything else I could tolerate.

I do hate gross stuff in movies though, can I take this as an opportunity to say gross things aren't funny? I am tired of watching comedies where people vomit, it actually makes me physically ill to see people vomit no matter how fake it is.

You need to work on that disgust tolerance, OP. My goodness. I can't think of anything off the top of my head that would increase your constitution stat, though...

I'll give you the birdshit, but imo the snot was a lot worse than the goblins or trolls. (And neither of those things ruined my enjoyment of the film.) But then again mythical creatures rarely gross me out (no matter what they look like), and YMMV and all that.

Poor Radagast. At first I thought that was moss growing on his hair, and was like "awwww what a cute little detail!" But then there was a big closeup and I went "...aw, honey, no"

TIL over the past few weeks: fandomsecrets has a relatively low gross out threshold with this film.

Although yeah the bird poop was sort of bothersome but personally didn't bother me that much ultimately.

The VERY first thing my husband said to me as we exited the theater was, "That fucking goiter was incredibly gross." So it seems to have left an impression with everyone.

(Also how poop!face was the worst Doctor and was only ever good at crossing his eyes and so on.)

I actually thought the birdshit on Radagast's face was funny and in-character. He hangs around with animals 24/7 and birds don't exactly have good bowel control, it makes sense.

Not funny in a ha-ha-poop-jokes-are-hilarious way but in a oh-Radagast-you-silly-wizard way.

Yeah...honestly, I totally get what they were going for when they had the uber hippie Radagast let a bird poop on him and live on his head.

It's still excrement. I'm was still holding back the vague sensation of nausea.

Otherwise I'm just giving props for the coolness of the CGI to the Goblin King.

I still don't understand why so many people are making a big deal out of the bird poop thing. It's just bird shit, what's the big deal?

I couldn't care less about the bird poop thing (didn't think it was too distracting and fit his character), but I hated hated all the snot and fart jokes of the trolls and the blubbery scrotum hanging from the Goblin King's chin. And that's not in a "omg gross" way either.

I mean, I get the argument that the Hobbit's ~more for children~ than LOTR. I do. But "for children" and inserting a bit of comedy does not mean "aim for the lowest common denominator jokes." (Remember "Nobody throws a dwarf!"? Second breakfasts?) In those scenes, I seriously felt like I was watching some low budget cartoon that the writers, directors, and producers didn't give half an ass about because they weren't being paid enough to insert some actual thought. After remembering what they put into the original trilogy, it just felt insulting.

Some of the gross humor was a turn-off, but I'm hoping we're past the "kids like gross humor" parts and get to the badass stuff in the next two...
