It doesn't work, at least not in the way people usually mean by the word, and that's why I love it so much. I like my ships with torn rigging and chipped paint and looking like they've been through every conceivable hell the world can throw at them and really shouldn't even be seaworthy. Because figuring out how and why they're still sailing is the fun part.

I ship Youko/Rakushun (human form, even though he's the same person either way) like burning. Anyone else?

Same here!! They shared a lot of sweet moments, like when Raks turned into human form (naked, no less) to give Youko a hug (from behind, of course, so she can't see his junk). He was just a nice little man-rat who was always there for her, even when she was going bonkers.

Anyone who ships her with Keiki is nuts. There is nothing there.

Yeah, Keiki reads as asexual to me. Cannot see Youko/Keiki for the life of me.

I still can't find a decent Youko/Rakushun fic. Halp!

Any Kirin/Ruler ship creeps me out because of the unequal power balance. Kirin can't refuse orders except to bow to someone who isn't the ruler, so it really gives off really strong rapey coercion vibes and that...really isn't my bag.

I also think Youko and Rakushun are adorable together. I love them both as a romantic pair and as a bestest friends pair. Either way, their relationship is just wonderful ~

I don't really have opinions for that ship (actually never came to mind, but it's interesting now that you mention it); ship on, OP!

...Speaking of ships that probably shouldn't be shipped, I have to say I ship Shoryu/Rokuta. Their book/story arc was like a lousy prince rescuing his feisty princess from a competitive suitor.
