I don't think you're going to get the argument you're looking for. I love AC a lot, but I think the concept of endings ran over the series's dog or something.

lmao, this. I see people constantly hate on the series' endings. If you aren't at least a bit annoyed or frustrated with them then you're the odd man out. (Which I can totally understand seeing as they're all the worst kind of cliffhangers, and each one just gets weirder and weirder and yea, I think there's some valid criticism.)

That said, I don't personally hate them, but every single time I finish an Assassin's Creed game I go, "...What the hell just happened AND WHY WOULD YOU LEAVE IT THERE?

All of this. Yes.

The endings are equal parts "argh!" and "wtf?" and each installment only gets worse. Thank heavens I'm only in it for the gameplay and plot is very secondary.

The gameplay and setting got me into the series, but I do very much enjoy the plot. I'm used to confusing and nonsensical in video games so that isn't new, but I won't say it doesn't sometimes take me by surprise.

I'm pretty sure my first words upon completing Assassin's 1 were, "What the fuck?" and things just escalated from there, heh.

The gameplay is definitely a good enough reason to play though, imo.

Personally I love the plot, and while the constant cliffhangers get annoying...I also like how they get people thinking and speculating more than they probably would otherwise.

...That, and I admittedly like having endings that give me that reaction. ^^;;

I love how ambitious the whole plot is, how it really does go over all of history, and I love how you get that from puzzles made by a crazy person.

I really would like a more conclusive ending though, Ubisoft. Cliffhangers are getting old.
kyuusei: This is Iggy being adorable. Not that it's difficult. (Default)

I really think Mass Effect 3 took the course 'Endings 101 - Assassin's Creed Style.' :p

It makes me not all that excited to start AC3's singleplayer but I've been having fun with the multiplayer so... there's that?
elaminator: (Assassin's Creed 3: Connor - how you doi)

Since you haven't played AC3 I won't comment too much on that except to say that despite its issues I love the game. And Connor, too. It's a bit different from the other AC's, and some people weren't enthused with the story, but it did a lot of things I like very well, imo.

And I completely agree about ME3.

While I didn't care much for Connor [his personality just rubbed the wrong way, in a lot of ways] I will say they handled some topics that would be very easy to get preachy and/or fall too heavily one way or the other on, very very well.
