Hey all,

Don't know if you remember, but I have officially been cleared for graduation. Thesis is bound and complete and I graduate at the end of January.

So, all of you chugging away - KEEP AT IT. (And don't kill your advisers. If mine became suddenly helpful then maybe yours can too?)

From an anon currently awaiting her committee meeting and suggested edits on her thesis, a hearty congratulations!! You give me hope. Lol.

Man. That was the woooorst time for me. Actually, the worst time was the half an hour before my defense. I literally thought I was going to pass out from sheer terror. Good luck with your edits!

Yeah, I'm currently distracting myself with bad TV, reading too much, and eating lots of terrible food. It's kind of working? I'm sort of afraid I'll get to the meeting and they'll be like "THIS IS THE WORST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN" and then I will have to fall to the floor and cry, lol. Mostly I'm just glad to at least have a draft done, though, since I am horrible at self-motivation and time management and I didn't think it would ever actually happen.

People keep asking me if I'm planning on a PhD next and I can only laugh a bit hysterically in answer.

OMG congratulations!

I'm in the process of quitting after a year. I'm pretty sure it's the right decision for me (I'm really bright, but I'm not good at school, please let me leave ppl). I have so so much respect for anyone who finishes a thesis, about 1000x more now that I know what's involved.

Annnnd don't let other make you feel bad about quitting. Honestly if its not for you, don't make yourself stress. I definitely was not ready for grad school when I went, so its a freaking miracle this is finally finished.

The thesis is/was one of the main things keeping me from graduating, and I salute you for being able to take yours and show it whatfor. :)

Annnnd secret time - I actually 'walked' across my stage almost two years ago (May 2011) and am JUST NOW actually completing my thesis. And I am only the 4th of 8 in my cohort to be officially graduating.

So - YOU CAN DO IT. If I can do this (I am horrible and usually need deadlines to finish so this blobby thesis period has been horrible) SO IF I CAN DO IT ANYONE CAN!

Well, I'm still getting my brain chemistry back in order, and I'm not sure I want to go back anyway, but, heck, it is ALWAYS helpful to know that the world does not contain only people who got all their things together and completed grad school in two years... and then there is you. That is not a good feeling.

But, yeah, either way: man, fuck thesis...eseses...eses.

Do you mind if I ask what your program was/thesis is about?

Nah, I am graduating from the New York area (Cornell in Ithaca) but I am currently in the Midwest. I'm not actually walking across the stage. Why?

Good and geeky friend of mine got signed off the very same day! I had to make sure.

How do you people manage to do grad school work and fandom? I can barely keep up with my undergrad stuff as it is. I'm worried I'll have to give up a lot of my hobbies if I ever get in to a program.
