I had no idea these books had a fandom or that it was big enough to have a largely-hated character. ._.

Anyway I remember I used to be kind of annoyed at how all of Dawn's traits were attributed to her being from California. I remember there was one part in the book where she said she was going back to her hometown "where everyone was blond" and thinking "But people in Southern California mostly have brown or black hair because of all the immigration from Mexico!" and thinking the author had never been to California in her life.

Yeah, my grandparents lived in California, so I went there pretty often to visit them as a kid, and was kind of surprised by the California stereotypes when I started reading these books. I didn't know people in CA were supposed to be blonde hippies who like health food!

I don't remember anyone from Australia or Kentucky but I lol'd at the rest. Accurate comment is accurate.

Was the Australia reference the Hobart family? (Because reference! Hobart's in Tasmania! They have placename surnames in Australia!) I only remember them because at one point a kid was ill in bed or maybe he broke his leg or something, and the BSC arranged a summer Christmas to cheer him up, because Christmas happens in summertime in Australia. And I remember thinking something about the logic seemed off, but that's the only thing I remember about that book or family. I think I already had a sense the series was jumping the shark a bit...

Kentucky is maybe the twins that moved in, Abby and thingy?

I'm pretty sure Logan was from Australia? I think it was Logan, anyway. It seems like Mary Anne's boyfriend was from there and liked horses or something.

Oh wait! He was the one from Kentucky! And yeah, he was into horses...

...which I did not mean the way that sounded. :O
