One thing that might help is your posture. Try to stand up straight and if you sit down a lot during the day, sit completely in the chair with your back against the backrest, like all the way in the chair as opposed to on the edge. I didn't even notice I was doing that at work until someone pointed it out and it caused me to hunch over at my desk which put a lot of strain on my neck/back. Ergonomics and posture help a lot.

Stress can cause pain in the neck/upper back but those are some small things you can do to help. It also helps to practice basic breathing exercises if you find yourself stressed a lot of the time, just take slow breaths -- inhale and hold it in, focus on the air in your lungs, exhale, it helps
