My dad doesn't 'get' fiction, like at all. He doesn't care and doesn't understand why I read novels for example and especially not FANTASY novels. Fantasy novels are like even worse than regular ones.

I mean I guess I can get why watching cartoons at my age may be out of the norm but the fact he's so weirded out by fiction in general makes me want to roll my eyes. He just doesn't understand me caring about things which aren't real- and the only worthwhile books to him are non-fiction. I'm fine with him not reading fiction but I wish he's stop acting like I'm the weird one for being into things millions of other people are also into.

Thankfully my mum gets it- she's into Star Trek (though I'm not) and crime/detective shows and books (I'm into the shows too).
