I'm sorry. I just can't get past her horrible posture. Sticking her ass out that far just looks so uncomfortable.

It is dreadful, but I recall at least one author I follow saying that they have little to no input over the covers, so I wouldn't fault them for that.

I've heard that from a number of authors, especially from the earlier novels. All the packaging is decided by the publisher, and only if the author is really worried about it will the agent fight for them to have input on that part of the book. Marketing is more out of their hands.

I wrote this novel:

My main character, Veronique d'Orleans, does not dress like that, pose like that, or fight using A Real Big Stick at any point during the course of the story. At all. Ever. The cover was actually painted by John Bolton as an internal piece of art for an RPG core rules book at least a couple years before I even started writing Brujah.

So, yeah, having no control over what your cover looks like rather sucks, especially if you'd like your badass female main character to be taken seriously.

Would help if you mentioned what the series was.

An unrelated comment: your nickname sounds like an agjective in one of my languages, and every time I see it I'm trying to come up with a possible meaning.

I believe it is, and yeah, I only read the first book but it was... certainly something.

It's more than a trilogy. But I don't know anyone who managed to get past the fourth one.

I don't know what series this is, but I feel the same way about WoT.

Partly right now it's because I can't read AMOL until summer because it will fuck around with my grades if I read it now ~~but waaaah I want to~~

These books are my guilty pleasure.

Yes, the main character is kinda a super special Sue
but the SUPPORTING characters are my favorites.

Achmed is one of my favorite characters in anything ever.

Yeah... I gave up on those books when I heard about the part where she walks through a magical fire that restores her virginity just so she could be "pure" again. (Because heaven forbid a female protagonist exist with a broken hymen!)

Okay, I'm glad that I never got around to reading those books now.
