This is a stupid question but...if we're signed in and choose "anonymous" to leave a reply to submit a secret, there's no way for you to know who it was, right? Or should I just sign out completely to submit a secret?

We all know it's you, Sarah.

It works like leaving any other anon-comment.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
He wouldn't know, and even if you post it as a signed-in comment, no one BUT Case would ever know. He's never ratted anyone out, and the only time I even remember him passing comment on a secret-poster it was because they were trolling to try to start wank about their own fanart which was IN THE ICON THEY USED WHEN THEY SUBMITTED THE SECRET. Even then, he didn't tell us their name, just told us of their failtrolling in the message in the failbar.

Can we put an end to all this demisexual talk? Clearly after two days nothing is going to convince anyone of something they don't already believe and when half the argument devolves to the repetition of "But it's still not an orientation! *victorydance!*" it just...it starts to feel like spam -- and hurtful spam at that.

Good luck coming out to your parents about being a cisgendered heterosexual demisexual-It must be so hard being you!

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't be a bully.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the problem is that you (and others) are posting in a public space, which means that whatever you type can and will be commented on. You give up your right to live in your own bubble when you post in public.

And honestly? When someone is making an ass of themselves in public then they are opening themselves up to said commentary. The vast majority of demisexuals are cisgendered and heterosexual. Check the tumblr tag or do a google search and you'll see. You get the utterly insulting crowd that is afraid to "come out" to their parents, or complain that the LGBTQ community doesn't accept them for their orientation. They really do not see that being a cisgendered heterosexual who only experiences attraction to someone they've known or formed a bond with is not unique, or rare.

In fact they are part of the vast majority of sexual people. They will never have to fear for their lives if someone finds out they're ~demi, they will never be denied housing for being ~demi, they will never be thrown out or disowned by their family for being ~demi. They will never be denied rights like marriage for being ~demi. They're heterosexuals clinging to a fancy label to distance themselves from their privilege. It's basically having your cake and eating it too, and it is just as vile and disgusting as the new ~transethnic movement that is springing up right now. A (mostly white) group of people claiming to be a different race on the inside.

When you go around trying to piggyback on people's oppression without ever actually knowing what it is like or experiencing the shit they have to go through then you are going to get called out on it. It may hurt your ~feelings to be reminded that you're normal and you're privileged, but oh well. Stop spitting in the face of people who actually are in danger and oppressed, and aren't clinging to their idenity to be ~different and ~special.

...this, tbh.

Anyone who claims to be demisexual and actually believes they are being oppressed by it...well, that sucks and I'm sorry you have a hard time, but I do not think being "demisexual" is the problem, so maybe you should do some examination.

The second anon in this thread (you, maybe?) was being snarky but reasonably so imo - they weren't actually saying anything really hurtful, and calling them a bully is gross (like do you know what bullying actually is)

If anyone thinks they've really been bullied for being "demisexual", I'd be honestly interested to hear that story.

I don't get it myself. How is being part of the most widely accepted and "normal" sexuality in western society somehow getting you beaten up or harassed?

LOL, are you serious? There are actually people out there who feel they're discriminated against by being ~demi? WOW.

Yeah, I just did a tumblr search.

I see a lot of people expressing comfort over finding a label that they feel fits them. I see people being mean and nasty because they're offended that anybody IDs as demi. And I see people expressing hurt at the mean and nastiness.

I don't see anyone saying "OMG, all those sexuals are such SLUTS!" as has been suggested recently. I don't see people crying because "The LGLBTQers don't accept me!!" and I don't see very many people even bringing up orientation (let alone whether they are cisgendered and heterosexual or something else) nor demanding to be let in on the super-secret LGBTQ handshake. So get over yourself.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
You're a jerk. If someone clearly is feeling uncomfortable enough by a thread that even Case thinks its worth freezing, shitting all over that person here when your ability to do so over there goes away is pretty low.

What? Do you get picked on all the time IRL and are relishing in your opportunity to dish it for once? Shameful.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Hello OP. As I've stated before a discussion=/=not a personal attack against you. I can only imagine how hard it is for you online, and perhaps it would be better to stick to places where there is no open discussion and accessable only to people who agree with you.

If not then you should perhaps realize posting in a public space is going to come with differing opinions and not just asspats. If you don't want to be part of said discussion then do not read it.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry but there's no "discussion" to be had in "Oh, your life must be SOOOO HAAAAARD!!!" There's discussion, and there's disagreement and there's being an asshole. The person starting shit in this thread is an asshole.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Shame on you for pretending to be queer when you recieve all of the benefits and privilege from being heterosexual and cisgendered. Just because someone calls you normal does not mean you are being bullied. Please learn what this word actually means.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
+1 Also, in b4 you're jumped on with "U DISGUSTING HOMOPHOBE, GO PLAY IN TRAFFIC! DIE CIS SCUM!"

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, shut up. You and people like you are part of the reason there's so much strife on LJ/DW/Tumblr.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
The butthurt snowflake is strong in this one! Do tell me more how hard it is to be someone who only has sexual relationships with people they have ~emotional bonds with~ and how this is somehow different from those ~normie sexuals~

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh, I just realised the secret I submitted last week is slightly too large. I don't suppose there's anyway I could resize and replace it before it gets posted?

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
pm case the link, he let me do it

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool. Do you have to be logged in to do that? I don't have an account here.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Do you have an account on LJ? PM technophile on LJ, it's the name of Case's account there.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
da

You can also resubmit the secret with the resized image and a note explaining what happened, I think. I've done something similar once (anonymously resubmitted a secret I noticed had very poor phrasing, along with a sentence in the comment under the image link asking case if he could post this secret instead of the other very similar one) and he posted the proper secret.
