Yeah, as far as I'm concerned, posting on FFN is basically saying "I neither want nor expect you to take my fic seriously". And I posted there back in the day. But the day was, y'know, circa 2000-2003. The site has gotten worse, not better, both in terms of functionality and in the quality of what you're likely to find there. And the stark white-and-blue is the same level of eye-bleedingly-painful that drove me away from LJ. So, I'll be just fine on AO3, thanks.

Well I can't imagine many people will miss your readership... or your stellar personality, for that matter.

Because option B "I started in my fandom 10+ years ago when there only was ff.n and aren't really active but I'm still writing fic (at whatever speed or lack thereof) for whatever reasons so I only post to ff.n because that's all I know and care to know because as already stated, not really active anymore" isn't valid.

Yes, I just described me. I expect and want my readers to take my fic seriously and I post on ff.n. I'm nowhere near active enough in my writing and posting to feel the need to learn the culture of a new site. Ff.n works well enough for me and I get plenty of readers/reviewers/favorites etc.

Also, my fandom is SUPER old (re: 90's cartoon) and that's where the people who are still interested in my fandom look for fic because they don't EXPECT it to be on a newer fic site.

But whatevs. Lump all writers on ff.n into one generic label. That's NEVER a bad idea.

+1

You just described a hell of a lot of other people too. I know a great deal of older not-so-computer-savvy fans that have a lot of stuff archived there because it's easily accessible and fairly user-friendly. And these people are the long-time and often more educated fans who are writing through love of their source material, not to be a BNF or get followers on tumblr or popularity through porn on AO3. Hence, good quality (and often lengthy) fic.

Saying posting on ff.net means authors neither want not expect their readers to take their fic seriously is so obnoxious I just don't even know where to start.
