1) Desu noto-moto? Motorola, niiii. *nods*

8) Sadly, 4chan has pictures too. *shudders* But really, I'm just sick of all the 'I♄ DIS PAIRING BUT SHHHHH' secrets.

11) Try writing short stories or very long one-shots. I've seen many BNFs that have never written a single multi-chapter fic.

20) What do you write? Maybe I'll like reading it, too. 8Dd

You're welcome! Love your icon, by the way, it's gorgeous. :3

Where the fuck did you get me bragging about how thin I am out of 'fandom makes me want to lose weight'? I didn't even mention how much I weigh! Nobody knows I'm anorexic, I'm not proud of it, and I'm trying to stop, but all of my fandom heroes being unrealistically thin is not helping me. That's my secret. If it's a complaint against anything, it's a complaint against the common practice of making people unrealistically thin in manga, not a complaint against (what the fuck?) 'fat weeaboo'.

Not every fucking secret is about you or trying to insult you. Get the fuck over yourself.

That's how I thought it was spelled with I was little (I had a friend named Sarah back then too heh). :)

5. I don't find the secret condescending, nowhere in it did OP bash yaoi fans, and it didn't really express love of het, just a character. Nowhere in the secret did it talk about a love for any het pairing, just Relena. I don't see how even the first part could be taken to mean all yaoi fans, since it referenced fem bashing, which in the case is more pertinent than that. I don't know where the OP ever infers that anyone is less of a fan for something.

IAWTC too!

3. Oh, I hear you. It's lovely to avoid drama, but... it's also a pain in the butt whenever you mention the series and NOBODY has heard of it. so there's no one else to squee and write porn with. :(

22. Oh, don't! Hell, I'm 27 and I'm the youngest in the group of people I went to Anime North with. I think that's one reason why i enjoyed it so much- older fans were there, even to the point of having a panel dedicated to the trial and tribulations of older fans. (And let's not get into the adult fanfic forum....) The young kids are annoying, but in a good con they're also controlled. You're younger than I am! Don't give up! D:

Word the Nth degree

[identity profile] liltigre.livejournal.com 2007-08-30 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
I think the issue stems from the fact that there's now a growing generation gap in anime/manga fandom. Personally, I don't mind 13-year-olds at a con as long as they have parents around, and as long as they don't run around madly squeeing at the tops of their lungs or trying to sneak into the adult panels. Younger fans seem to look at fandom differently than us old farts, and it clashes at times.

9. Awww ^^ I used to do the same thing with my cousins only. . .I didn't fall for them. XD

15. AMEN

20. Me too. XD In fact I write fanfic more for myself (so I can read it later) than for fellow fans.

23. Totally unrelated to the secret: That looks like my cat.

You were close enough to attend MTAC? I very nearly went there myself, but I got a chance to attend Anime North instead. How was it?

7. *salutes* One freak, reporting for duty, sah!

I proudly admit to being an RPSer. My feelings won't change just because you think I'm a freak. There are far weirder things about me than the fact I like slashing pretty male comedians (and let it be known I am by far not the only one who does this).

Look, you don't have to like RPS. You don't have to like anything. Not my problem. I don't care if you like horror, don't like fantasy, read chick lit, whatever. You like what you like. I like what I like. There is no law that says we have to like the same things.

Although I do find it amusing you like RPF though. Most anti-RPSers I've come across don't like any form of RPF, slash or otherwise.

But, whatever. Seriously. To each their own.

*runs off to finish writing more slashfic*

I really fucking hate High School Goddamn Musical, but I don't call people fanbrats for liking it. That's lame.

ALSO ARE YOU AWARE YOU DREW A PENIS? Because if not, lol. And if so, still lol but with slightly less enthusiasm.

Oh it was loads of fun for me and everyone else. :D There were even Star Trek and Star Wars cosplayers, and the 8-foot tall Chewbacca was even at the rave! xDDD

I got to go with some new friends and [livejournal.com profile] the_wonkamatic, who's in this pic (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v70/SirHellsing420/MTAC%202007/August18th2006003.jpg) cosplaying as Axel.

And for the hell of it, here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v70/SirHellsing420/MTAC%202007/August18th2006005.jpg) is the Lust cosplayer I was talking about. X3

I'm hoping to make plans to attend MTAC next year. :D

not all thirteen-year-old girls are screaming fanbrats. they have a right to go to conventions as much as you do.

so bugger off, please.

[identity profile] pretentioustfu.livejournal.com 2007-08-30 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry. I've just seen secrets that read like "I was once a teeny fantard, then I discovered that men and women could have sex and I became a great writer and a wonderful person and het is the cure for all fandom ills. . ." and this one sort of came off like that to me. Maybe it isn't, in which I'm all for the writer and against the OOC fans that convinced her m/f was bad.

Re: 5

[identity profile] mercale.livejournal.com 2007-08-30 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Really, I don't remember anyone saying that het was the cure for all fandom ills. But if they think it is such, then are they not allowed to hold that opinion, flawed or otherwise? Everyone, even yourself, has the right to feel and believe in what they so choose, which is what is a real marvel in this modern world. No one is really forced to bow to the opinions and desires of another. You don't have to accept what they like, and they don't have to accept what you like. And, here is the greatest marvel, if you don't like what they are saying or think, you don't have to listen to them or read their opinions.

Doesn't that help avoid problems?

I work in Walt Disney World right now, and at our MGM studios we have HSM 1 and 2 pep rallies where people sing and dance and all sorts of things. It's insane. I really dislike HSM but there you go.

In any case, you're probably wondering why I'm replying, it's that mostly kids aren't at these events. It's 20-somethings who are really into it. One of my roommates is nuts for it and she's thrilled she gets to dance every day in the pep rallies.

So you're not alone. Now by a long shot.
