Wait, but would you bother to read original fiction in first person? (not talking about the second one here - that's... a slippery matter)

Not the anon up above, but I've read a few books in first person but they really have to grab me. I avoided reading the Hunger Games just for that reason. It's just not a style I enjoy.

Ditto. If I hadn't heard about the general idea of Hunger Games before I picked up the book (or worded better: if I had read page one before knowing what it was about), I wouldn't have given it the time of day. I am really picky like that about first person.

AYRT. I have read some of the first person classics mentioned elsewhere in this thread, but I haven't enjoyed them all that much. It just isn't a writing style that I like.
