I don't expect every fic to be brilliant, but I do expect them to be as error free as is reasonably feasible. If a grammar check kills your creativity and fun, then your fic was probably shit in any incarnation. I'm not a critical reader, but I'm a pretty critical not-reader about basic things. Don't do the basics and I won't read your fic. Simple.

...by which I mean, keep on keeping on. You'll only lose readers like me.

+1 Consistency and demonstrable fluency in the language you're writing in are just my baseline expectations of writers, regardless of the content. I've nothing against shallow, self-indulgent fic because, yeah, it is supposed to be fun, but my expectations draw the line between "this isn't my cup of tea" and "this writer is utter shit."

I don't think the OP wants readers like you.

OP probably wants all the readers they can get, actually.

Most writers want all the readers they can get but have certain types of readers they aren't willing to pander to.

If by 'pander to' you mean taking 30 seconds to run the spell check before posting, then I guess the OP doesn't want me as a reader.

Not the OP, but as someone who also writes shitty idfic, nope. I'm usually more interested in how I can keep my pool of readers small rather than large.
