I wanted to like this anime (it just had every anime-Christianity cliché ever, how can you not like that?, but the treatment of the female characters just squicked me out too much. I was especially disappointed because apparently the mangaka is a woman? I wouldn't have picked up the series otherwise.

That's one of the reasons why I gave up reading RINNE. I've liked Rumiko Takahashi's female characters in the past, but the new ones are just awful (Aside from maybe Rinne's grandmother, though she's still an awful person, personality wise)

The plot of the anime isn't the same as the manga. It diverges around episode 14 or 15 I think.

But yeah, some female mangaka can write pretty sexist stuff.
