This is kind of how I feel about nu!Trek. I always spot and complain about how it's different from TOS and how the feel and/or meaning of certain concept and character traits have gotten so hopelessly confused or obscured in translation (mostly the parts that can't be directly handwaved away by "timeline change!" because it's not like it's a totally separate parallel universe that just happens to be similar to the TOS 'verse, it split off from the TOS 'verse due to a specific change).

That doesn't mean the 2009 movie didn't make me squee all over the place in delight and it doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it immensely or that I don't appreciate the new versions of the characters or find them interesting as well. It's just...I like to be reminded that it IS, in fact, very different.
