Re: Housemate Pet Peeves
(Anonymous) 2013-01-20 03:24 am (UTC)(link)ok so I live with just my sister in a house my parents own where neither of us have to pay rent. She has a job and I'm unemployed and a full-time student. This causes problems because she spends every cent she possibly can while I hoard my money knowing that it's all I have to get by until I can find a job.
So needless to say my sister does a lot of the grocery shopping. To make up for it, I volunteered myself to do all the housework. But she still constantly bitches at me about both these things. Every now and then she'll start going on and on about how I don't buy my share of the food and end up eating a lot of the basic groceries (eggs and milk) that she buys and she never gets any. She also likes to complain about how she can never figure out where I put things when I clean and that it bothers her when I move things around for space convenience because half of the time where I put things she thinks is "too tacky looking"
It drives me nuts because I end up spending what little money I do have to make up for the groceries and I'm not sure what I'm going to do once I run out completely, and I feel constantly under-appreciated about all the housework I do to a point that it's getting harder and harder to motivate myself into doing anything. I've tried talking to her about this numerous times but I think it's going in one ear and out the other.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-20 06:16 am (UTC)(link)I say save your money. Your sister needs to learn to manage her money better, and you are cooperating with the running of the household by doing chores
and also, you're studying to get a good job later on, it's not like you're sitting on your ass doing nothing all day
