I don't get how people can hate Martha. I get the feeling she suffered because people were so depressed about what happend with Rose and weren't prepared to see someone new. Sort of like hating a step-parent that comes into the picture too early, even if they're actually really cool.

But I've always loved her. She's one of the only (New Who) companions to save the Doctor, and she did it twice at least, and she was kickass.

Do you mean saved the Doctor specifically, or saved the day along with the Doctor? Because I think all the companions have done the latter, and everyone except Rose has done the former (although Donna only did it indirectly).
