I like buddy stories. I would totally read about a "bromance" between two people even if they're not two dudes. But there's rarely the chemistry and relationship like that between two ladies or men and women.

And where on reddit are you hanging out? Because if it's all bromances and broships then I want to go to there.

you must mean that these lady-lady "bromances" don't exist on tv or in movies (and we won't get into the structural reasons why), because in real life, lady friendships are just as weird and lovely. hell, sometimes even lady/dude friendships are just as weird and lovely, and the lady and the dude don't fuck. mind fucking blowing.

Definitely was speaking about tv and movies and fandom sources in general. In real life I am definitely part of and aware of some kickass lady/lady and lady/dude bromances (we need a new term btw).

In case you're interested in recs, Clint & Natasha from The Avengers and Sherlock & Joan from Elementary have this dynamic in a lot of fic. And in canon Jane & Maura from Rizzoli & Isles do, too, though pretty much all of the fic I've seen for this fandom is femslash.

I think I love those kinds of dynamics in general, be they between two men, two women, a man and a woman, or whatever else. Sometimes, I end up shipping the characters (like Natasha/Clint and Jane/Maura), but I adore the closeness they share first and foremost, whatever else goes on in their fandoms.
