I do not think that's gross. You can pretty much convince me of any shipping permutation with the right story.

I just watched FMA this year; I haven't gotten around to Brotherhood yet, so I haven't really delved into the fandom. I take there are some heated shipping wars, yes? LOL

I used to be really into the FMA fandom when it was huge and yes, there were TONS of shipping wars. RoyxEd, EdxAl, EdxWinry, and RoyxRiza, were the big ones at the time. Even so there were still lots of nice people and a lot of them were pretty chill about shipping.

And, see, I would happily ship any of those pairings while adding in Winry/Sheska (I take it they didn't really interact in Brotherhood but they do in FMA) and Roy/Hughes.

Maes/Roy is what got me into slash! They've got an amazing dynamic.

They really, really do. They're the only ship that I really saw subtext for in canon so blatantly (although I certainly don't limit my shipping to the subtext heavy relationships).

Roy/Hughes is huge as well, so you won't be lacking fic or art :) I haven't read any Winry/Sheska, but a quick look on Google tells me there are shippers!

I have a great Roy/Hughes icon but when my paid DW account expired, that was one of the ones it swallowed. /saddest story.

I've seen a lot of the AO3, but I'll look at the manifesto and some other stuff, thans!

There's a Roy/Hughes doujinshi called Cigarettes that I really liked back in the days. I think there were scanlations floating around but I don't know if you can find it now.

You could also check the LJ comm, FMA_OT4. We're pretty...slow? Dead...? Right now, but we were pretty busy back in the day. It was posts for any permutation of Maes/Gracia/Riza/Roy, so you'll have to sort through what you don't want.
