I personally don't see a single reason why this franchise is popular at all. There's literally nothing good in it but the concept.

Sometimes, concept is enough to sustain people.

I hate to say it, but I've experienced it myself. I've stuck with certain things because I'm hooked on the concept, despite finding the execution poor. Granted, there's a level of crap to which I will not descend, but I'm sure the nature of that level varies according to person.
