how does having a few bikini clad women on his wall mean he can't be bisexual?
Oops, maybe I phrased that badly. What I was saying (and I still feel this way) was that one of the reasons for the pictures was JKR's way of asserting that Sirius was straight. But, as you say, just having pictures of women on the wall doesn't mean he's, straight since it's possible to be attracted to more than one gender. What I was meaning to say was that I'm not sure the idea of bisexuality occurred to JKR when she wrote that bit.

That being said, I do not feel at all comfortable with trying to guess whether or not the concept of bisexuality occurred to J. K. Rowling with regard to her own characters.

Yes, that's my point: After the speculation about Remus and Sirius, the pictures feel like JKR felt the need to make sure people understood Sirius was straight.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-27 06:57 am (UTC)(link)Maybe it wouldn't have, because surely they wouldn't have wanted him marrying a half-blood/muggle-born woman and having lots of half-blood children with the Black name. So they actually may have preferred him to be gay, because then at least there wouldn't be any more little blood-traitors called Black. Probably not what JKR intended, but it's a thought.
