(Anonymous) 2013-01-27 02:54 am (UTC)(link)I have to sympathize, though, because I used to think mentions of pubes in fic were gross too, and I would shave all of mine off even though it was super painful and looked awful and I didn't like it at all, I just thought it was expected. And then I grew up and started having actual sex and realized that it was fucking stupid and reflective of the body shaming culture we all live in
Preferences are great; I like some hair and I prefer my (female) partners to have the same, but what they want to do with their own bodies is great. However, unilaterally declaring something disgusting is really juvenile and just makes you seem like a piece of shit who's too dumb to realize that an opinion like that is going to a) get you cyber-lynched and b) send some very strong negative messages to young people who unfortunately need to turn to the internet to learn about the world. Be smart and keep it to yourself.
