Re: Pet owners who try to dictate you pet care

I feel your pain. I never ever talk about my cats on online forums simply because one was declawed by his former owner [because she was in bad health, and there were concerns related to that], and my other one just doesn't have much in the way of 'I shouldn't love on that dog!' instinct, so they aren't allowed out very much.

I'd be ripped to shreds over the first [nevermind it was years before I got him], and have the same treatment you get over the latter.

I don't get why people are so appalled at the idea. It's been proven that indoor cats tend to live longer, so it's not exactly like it's unhealthy, or depriving them of something they desperately need.

I don't talk on online forums for pet owners ever. If I got questions about cat care, I either go to the vet or to the pet store...

Yeah indoor cats live longer. And also house cats are domesticated, just the same as with dogs. But we can let one of them out on their own and not the other.

And I know I am a good cat owner, because my cat likes me (and only me, she isn't a people person) and she is healthy and the part that shocks most people who are hatin' on indoor cats, doesn't weigh too much. I buy her new toys (or make them myself) at least once a month, she is fed vet approved food and she can sleep on my living room table if she wants to.

Is there really that much hate for indoor cats? I'm always nervous talking about our small(compared to what you usually get around our area.) colony of barn cats, because I've had encounters with people in RL who don't get that no, I can't bring all of them in the house.
