Re: Pet owners who try to dictate you pet care
I got an indoor cat in a country where it isn't normal to keep your cats inside, so I feel your pain.
The amount of times people imply my cat is somehow abused is seriously getting on my nerve.
Heck I even walk my cat in the summers (she hates snow with a burning passion) and she is healthier than most outdoor cats I've meet. And I would never say that a cat that gets to go outside is abused, so why would anyone imply that about my cat? Who also goes to the vet at least once a year, to get her vaccines and an general health assessment (which she has passed with flying colours, the last time we went the Vet told me my cat had some of the nicest teeth she had seen on a cat in a long time).
And if I thought for one second my cat would be happier going outside I would let her go outside,

(Anonymous) 2013-01-27 05:14 am (UTC)(link)I'd be ripped to shreds over the first [nevermind it was years before I got him], and have the same treatment you get over the latter.
I don't get why people are so appalled at the idea. It's been proven that indoor cats tend to live longer, so it's not exactly like it's unhealthy, or depriving them of something they desperately need.
Re: Pet owners who try to dictate you pet care
Yeah indoor cats live longer. And also house cats are domesticated, just the same as with dogs. But we can let one of them out on their own and not the other.
And I know I am a good cat owner, because my cat likes me (and only me, she isn't a people person) and she is healthy and the part that shocks most people who are hatin' on indoor cats, doesn't weigh too much. I buy her new toys (or make them myself) at least once a month, she is fed vet approved food and she can sleep on my living room table if she wants to.
