He has his own moral code. Like when Mason Verger's sister killed him because had molested her, and Hannibal took the blame so she wouldn't get in trouble.

1. that book was crap.
2. He made a deal with her that she killed Mason and he got away - it wasn't exactly a spontaneous action of goodwill.
3. Even if he made her flowers and a card with "sorry you were molested, hope you feel better," on it, it wouldn't negate his being an insane murderous cannibal.

Not true. When he was a psychiatrist, he helped her for no ulterior motive except that he empathized with her. The reason why he made Verger cut off his face in the first place was was because he was offended by what he had done to her.

Margot really didn't do much in the way of rescuing Hannibal-- that was Clarice. Hannibal had no reason to help her after.

that book was crap.

No it wasn't. Hannibal Rising was though. :(

This. -_-

I couldn't even get past the first few chapters....and I think even the writer felt the same. Because didn't Harris NOT want to write more after Hannibal? But he was kind of bullied into it by his publisher? I seem to remember there being something like that....but I'm sure.

Dino De Laurentiis (the producer of the films) basically said to Harris "I want a Hannibal prequel, and if you don't do it, I'll get someone else to do it for you." So Harris was like, "Fine, I'll do it."

Ok. I knew there was something out there that seemed like Harris got pushed into it. Probably why the book ended up shit, because he didn't want to. But he made sure no one else could play in that sand box. Kind of selfish, but hey, it IS his little world.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-27 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't call him selfish (it is his baby) but if I were him I would have said "Fuck you, do what you want" and then I would publicly distance myself from the project and let everyone know I have nothing to do with it.

That makes sense. But he decided to do something that pretty much made anyone else leave it alone. Because it now "sucks."

Or at least, that's how I see it. >_>

DA

But he decided to do something that pretty much made anyone else leave it alone.

Well, they are giving him a tv series now.

But is he involved? Also, the tv series is based more around Graham, isn't it? Or something?

I still don't know how to feel about that show, tbh. :/

1. Says you.

2 and 3 have been explained, of which I agree with the others.

1. the book was fucking awesome, one of the best reads I've done in a long time at the time I read it

2. There were some shreds of decency in Lecter twisted up with the evil in him, which makes him compelling.
