(Anonymous) 2013-01-30 04:23 am (UTC)(link)The Odinsons are normal people who live in Chicago. They can't have a second child and adopt Loki from Russia. He was born with fetal alcohol syndrome and the older he gets, the more out of control he becomes. When his aging parents can't deal with him anymore and decide to institutionalize him, Thor promises to take over, and that they can leave Loki to him after they move to Florida. What his parents don't know is that to keep others safe from Loki, Thor has build a dungeon under his bookshop, outfitted with all comforts but nothing dangerous, and if necessary he can put Loki in bondage when he has a meltdown. While at first there is nothing funny going on, he has always been fascinated with how different Loki looks from him, with how pretty he is in spite of his relentlessly psychopathic ways. In a bid to escape, Loki notices, and tries to seduce him. Loki succeeds in the latter, repeatedly, but not the first.
Bonus if Thor angsts a great deal about hurting his poor baby brother and betraying the trust his parents put in him. Extra bonus if Loki enjoys Thor's angsting. Extra extra bonus if Thor is engaged to Jane Foster but has to break it off to protect his secret. Loki should be at least 17/18, and Thor several years older, but not over 30, young enough to have lived at home while Loki grew up.
No torture, no rape, no scat, no disciplining other than restraints, and no redeemed!Loki please, he's genuinely not aware that the things he does and say are unacceptable, and he never will be.

. . .I thought Kitty as a cat was funny.

But still. "Everyone must get married!" makes no sense now.

Mostly what I see happening is that Lizzie is gonna get a job at Pemberly Digital and that will be what helps out her family monetarily, just like how Charlotte's proposal ended up being a business proposal at Collins and Collins. Lizzie and Darcy might be friends or lovers eventually, but I think the more important thing there is the job. Jane broke up with Bing and then got a level in character fulfillment by moving to LA and doing more work in her industry. Getting married with her will be secondary. And Lydia is in a bad relationship because she's going through some growing pains and the way Wickham is fucking her over is a part of it, but it's not all who she is.

Carry on.

I just like that it shows that having a romance doesn't reduce the woman to "hi I'm going to be a wife now because that's what women do" and they approach romance and marriage in a very modern way. And I don't think Charlotte and Ricky are going to end up "together" (I sure hope not
though I kind of ship Ricky with Fitz)no subject
I mean their mom is still obsessed with that but it's more played for laughs/used as a source of stress for the daughters. None of *them* are all "I have to get married now omg"

Even Lizzie's budding romance with Darcy doesn't focus on marriage. It's pretty much never brought up. I figure they might get engaged at the end, but that would be more because "I found someone I want to spend the rest of my life with" not "YAY I FINALLY FOUND A SPOUSE NOW I CAN BE AT PEACE"
*SPOILERS for LBD*
