That seems like a really petty thing to be burned about. Both the change in wording and the wank about it. I was in the fandom, but I don't remember that particular wank. I do recall a lot of gnashing of teeth that they actually cut out about 5 minutes for the American version so that it fit the time slot better.

It really doesn't matter. They both have their good points. ASBO is more realistic and accurate. Community Service is instantly understandable to the chosen audience. Its not at all unusual for a director to sacrifice accuracy if it makes the difference between the audience getting the joke or not.
