I did this ages ago, and unfollowed everyone who refuses to tag their posts. Tumblr became so much less stressful now.

I just TS their usernames and click random alerts on my dash because the people are okay, just not their no tagging habit. And now it's easier than ever to tag.

Did the same. Some people had so much anger in their post even TS their username wasn't enough. Their username started to mean anger & screaming to me.

Personally I prefer to discuss things like in 'real life' because that's where basic civility is most prevalent, and I don't get told to "go die" for not understanding something, making a mistake or having a different opinion.

I like my real world conversation with more logic and less radicalist attitude behind it.

I agree. I mean, it's one thing if your fandoms are unusually wanky and people often flip out over trivial misunderstandings...but I think I'd honestly side eye anyone who blocked all SJ terms.

Reminds me of people who willfully ignore blatant racism and sexism while insisting that it's not that much of a modern issue anymore ("Lalala! Since it doesn't effect me as much, I'll ignore it to make it seem like these issues don't exist. I don't have to feel guilty about not actually caring that much!").

Personally, I've done pretty much the same thing because, at least when I was on tumblr, it wasn't rational discussion I saw. It was dog piling and attacks, and that's not what I want out of fandom.

Also blocking sj terms in fandom spaces =/= not caring. Like I mentioned, I've blocked have them there - but in RL? I'm one of the people who *starts* those discussions and goes out of my way to hear it. So it's a little presumptuous of you to assume that someone's fandom habits have to indicate what they're overall attitude is.

when you look at your dash and all you see is anger, anger and more anger, well no thanks. Beside the fact that I have huge problems with anger, I don't want to spend hours dealing with other people's yelling and screaming. I have enough of that IRL.

Mine was actually Misandry. The ridiculousness that shows up there was seriously starting to give me chest pains, because how could people be so stupid? I only joined Tumblr in the first place because fandom moved there, and fandom is what I do to relax. I don't want my hour of winding down at the end of the day to be spent getting myself worked up over all the crap I'm trying to wind down from.

I just want to look at pretty boys in nice suits before I go to bed! D:

That sounds like a good idea, I'm almost tempted to look into doing something like that.

(I'm going to regret saying this off anon but and it could just be me looking in the wrong places, all I seem to get from the 'vocal' ones are all white people suck no exceptions and must die because anything they do is wrong. What is wrong with me to think like that? :()

I'm sorry you guys, I just had to vent, I mean I know white people like myself have done a lot of stupid things but it looks like pretty much no matter what you do you're meant to feel bad for being white and that's just annoying.

I...pretty much agree. Most of the stupid crap white people get nailed for happened decades, if not centuries before I was born. I finally got to the point where I just point out that 'Yeah, white privilege exists and is horrible. I do my best to point out what's going on when I can/call it out when I can, along with blatant racism. That's all I can do seeing as I can't change the past.'

...Though it does kind of annoy me when people act as if minorities can't be racist*.

*I'm not talking about institutionalized racism, because obviously that's not going to happen, but more of the 'You better not date -insert any given race that's different from their own-!' type of deal.

Agree about the 'white people suck' thing. I once saw people dogpiling someone just because she said she's tired of people telling her she's evil because of her white privilege. I've been lucky to avoid most awful posts, but that one post really bugged me.
