It's my birthday!
It's not much of a celebration today to be honest, but that's because a group of friends and I are leaving for Japan on the weekend and that's when the REAL party starts. I am looking forward to it like burning. :3

Out of curiosity, do you guys know Japanese or are you going to try and skate by?

Well, my BFF and I learned it in high school, but stopped in our senior years. I went on exchange for two months before I stopped, and she did a couple of semesters at uni while clearing pre-reqs for other courses to stay full time. I'm a little rusty, but between us we should be good. <3
We do have four non speakers with us tho, which is gonna be interesting. Probably going to give them all a piece of paper that says 'Help I'm lost! Please call this number!" in case something goes horribly wrong. We also had to train one dude out of saying 'kawaii' jokingly, because he has an accent and it makes it sound like he's saying 'kowai', which... does not mean cute. :p

And I don't think rustiness should be a problem. I ended up taking a four year break between two levels of Japanese classes and was surprised at how quickly I fell back into the flow of things. And it should also help that you really only need the basics to get around, none of the fancier stuff.
