I do think of them as platonic soulmates, but people are way too hung up over the heaven episode imo. Let's be clear right now, they didn't share a heaven. Dean's heaven did involve his family, but Sam's heaven was very different. They certainly aren't soulmates in the heavenly sense.

And I'm sorry you don't enjoy the show anymore. I don't either, not really, but fuck this show is weirdly addictive. But I think the latest episode was slightly redeeming. Just slightly, it was still pretty bad and a poor excuse for drama.

I agree that they didn't share a heaven, and that on the basis of what Ash said, yup, they clearly weren't soulmates in the heavenly sense. But it everyone kinda jumped on the term "soulmate" and now it's supposed to be everyone's canon. I've always thought that it was just blatant fanservice.

It really is kind of annoyingly addictive! At the start of this season I was watching for Sam, but then...bleh. I haven't seen the last two episodes yet but I seriously have no idea what's going on anymore. Demon tablet, angel tablet?! They need to put it out of it's misery.

Fanservice is quite right! More fans need to keep in mind that the writers are very much aware of their largely female-orientated fanbase and caters to that. A lot of people are excited about Dean/Cas in this season's episodes and yeah, subtext, but it seems to me like it's all just pandering to the fans. It's the whole reason Sam and Dena are even good looking in the first place, so everybody needs to take a deep breath and calm down for a hot second.

Yeah agreed about that. I'm hoping Carver may turn out to be more brilliant than we initially counted on and ties it up beautifully, but eh, it's Supernatural. It probably won't happen. negl, I'm excited for a finale. Epic or not, at least it'll be over and I can move on to better things.

That's the biggest issue that I have with the writers. The constant fan pandering is frustrating. At first the sly little nods were endearing, now they're annoying as hell.

Carver just seems to be undoing everything Sera did. He's brought Cas back, brought the angels and demons back. It's just a rehash of what we've seen before really. IMO anyway. I suppose I'm kind of excited for a finale too, for the exact same reason. For closure or something.

Everything Sera did was a clusterfuck of epic proportions. Come on, the show had to resort to dick jokes all of last season. Carver may be bringing back the angels and demons, but at least the characters are the ones I enjoyed in S1-5.
