OP I think it's OK if you keep perspective on it. I didn't get over Ianto Jones either. However i think the fact is that real life people we lose have very complex relationships with us. Grief is mixed with anger, regret, ambivalence, unfinished business of all sort. A fictional character, well it's like when Princess Diana died, she might as well have been fictional to most of the people who kept vigil and cried a lot and laid flowers.

I think as long as you are able to get that what's going on is sort of a pure grief that is no doubt mixed in with real life grief, even grieving things that haven't happened yet, like the future death of a loved one. It's a way of being in touch with those feelings. It's just working out what's going on that I think sometimes causes people to tell you it's unhealthy, because you have to work that out for yourself, people can't police your feelings.
