26. Agreed on everything, even the cosplay part (I'm doing Cecile one day) CG is just so bad but entertaining at the same time lol.

9 - Nope, don't see it, never understood the appeal of it. It just seems so OOC for both of them.

[identity profile] crackjaw.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Most people are seeing it from Gumshoe's side. Because um. Yeah. Guy's kind of preoccupied.

1. DINOTOPIA *_* I wanted to live there SO. BAD. I didn't care too much for the characters, but I absolutely loved and adored the world and would've given anything to live there and pet a dinosaur or whatnot. Le sigh.

2. Heather is awesome. <3

11. OW. That looks painful. I don't care if there are people actually shaped like that, because OW.

(Anonymous) 2007-09-01 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not really ABOUT the characters, but I carried a huge torch for Sylvia anyway, probably because she was basically just a pretty girl with flowers in her titian hair who rode a flying dinosaur and my 13-year-old nerd self had it so bad...

But yeah. You don't read Dinotopia for the characters, you read it for the gorgeous illustrations that let you vicariously live out your preadolescent fantasies of riding a dinosaur to school.

James Gurney, I LOVE YOU.

14. Is that FANG-TAN Kiyal? TELL ME THAT'S KIYAL, PLEASE.

17. An Oofuri secret? FUCK YES. I love Kanou and Oda so much.

[identity profile] shahni.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
4 & 9. Love for Phoenix Wright, seriously. The character is adorable and on his own, such a sweetheart. And 9.? While I don't like ship them romantically, I can see how they would work. The amount of sweetness would be overwhelming. I'd read it if someone wrote it convincingly enough! Gumshoe needs more love too! ;-; ♥

[identity profile] goodguesser.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
16. Ichigo/Tatsuki! I don't ship it that much but their relationship is awesome!

I love Heather too, she's one of my favorite video game characters. Henry's still #1 for me though. hahaha.

1. Ohmygod, I wanted to go to Dinotopia so bad too. ;_; It's pretty cruel when authors write kids' books in such a way that they make you think a place actually exists. T_T dsijfhslk

4. Phoenix is wonderful. <3

7. LOL THIS SECRET IS AWESOME. DON'T FEEL BAD. I LOOK AT /D/ TOO, and usually it's just more fun to browse through the trainwrecks and just general WEIRDNESS than same old /y/.

9. Gumshoe is so gay for Edgeworth, and so cute about it. <3333

15. Recently read Bleach, and I was disappointed that Ganjyu never showed up again after the Soul Society arc. D:

[identity profile] dirty-baka.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I have every melbrook movie.

Spaceballs, Silent Movie, Robin Hood, To Be or Not To Be and Blazing Saddles are my total favs.

But I'll watch ALL of them. Even the original Producers.

[identity profile] michrure.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
9. I COULDN’T AGREE MORE. I like Phoenix/Miles just as much as the next person, but I adore Gumshoe/Miles at an entirely different level. I love how much Gumshoe adores Mr. Edgeworth. I wish there was more love for them too.

24. Who didn’t get that fetish after playing Silent Hill 2? ♥ ♥ ♥

(Anonymous) 2007-09-01 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
10. Though I never really got interested in Harry Potter, I do agree with your point here. I love anime and manga, but sometimes it is annoying when a series goes on for 439023432 episodes/chapters and nothing happens. The problem, however, is that I don't think a lot fans really want an ending. If there's an ending and the romantic relationships are finalized, etc., nobody has anything to write fanfiction about unless it's AU and "not canon." Hence the HP wank after DH.

15. I love Ganju too! I was kind of disappointed when I checked out the fandom and nobody had as much interest in him as I had hoped. Secretly I pair him with Ichigo - it's not my OTP, but I like the dynamic there. (And I'm glad that someone is as scared of sexual pain as I am. I love thinking about sex but I think my virgin self would run if anyone actually offered.)

26. I'm not familiar with the series, but I do like it when the plot does something unexpected at the end, like when a beloved character dies, or characters are forever separated, or when the villain is someone unexpected. It brings a touch of realism and depth to the series that otherwise wouldn't be there if the series was predictable.

29. Welcome to what was my world for a long time. Don't worry, there are a lot of people who admire manga and anime and don't get involved in fandom, or don't have an urge to. To be honest, I always wished that fandom had more serious discussion about characters, the plotlines, and ongoing themes. Some of these series (Fullmetal Alchemist, as an example) are very complicated, but all the fandom basically offers is wank and random!buttsex. Which... okay sometimes I do like my buttsex, but sometimes I want intelligent discussions, dammit! Basically, I feel for you.

(Anonymous) 2007-09-01 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
29 - I've found that discussions on plot and characters can get very very creative, actually. Especially since a lot of the series I watch are full of symbolism (Laim, Boogiepop Phantom, etc) so it's pretty fun to talk about what everything means, what it could point to, why the characters react to it the way they do.
I wish I could find a comm for intelligent fandom debates and discussion. And if it doesn't exist, I'll make one, dammit!

3. Personally, I'd be happy with more Bruce/Wally slashfic.

6. I usually like femmeslash, but for some reason that pairing never does it for me. Possibly it's just too nice, it lacks that certain "mmf". Possibly because I think of it as sideshipping.

...so I'm writing Alice/Namine instead D:

[identity profile] privytodoom.livejournal.com 2007-09-02 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah there is definitely not enough Bruce/Wally out there, though whats out there is pretty good. Now Terry/Wally is and interesting thought...it would definitely have to be a time travel fic of some sort to get wally to terry's time or terry to wally's time.

11. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the art. The proportions are correct if you're taking into account its style. Besides, while it looks painful, there are people in the real world shaped like that. I'm not a Claymore fan, by the way. So don't think I'm defending a series I like or something. Though I have seen art from it, and some of it looks quite amazing, if you ask me.

(Anonymous) 2007-09-01 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I would chalk it up to style if the art was consistently ill-proportioned. But it's not. One moment the art will be great, and then you turn the page or watch the episode further and suddenly their character models are off, they're taller or shorter than the moment before, their torsos lengthen and shorten like an accordion...etc

9. I'd be worried if people DIDN'T see it. Gumshoe has so much respect for Edgeworth, it's probably rather easy to make it slashy. Unfortunately, I kinda think it suffers a bit in the fandom because it doesn't have the prettiness factor that Phoenix and Edgeworth do. Don't maul me, peoples, I've rather grown to love WrightxEdgeworth, they're probably my main ship in that series now. And Gumshoe has his cute charms and they'd be extremely cute, considering all those pictures a page or so back but.. yeah. Babbling now.

10. I really relate to this. One of the main reasons I'm reluctant to buy some manga of things I'm interested in is the sheer quantity and the thought that the end is so far off and may even be rushed together. It's nice to read a completed story, and I'm even talking outside of Harry Potter, though I do love those books.

29. Totally was like this. And even though I'm loosening myself off my canon nazi ways, I do still feel a bit detached. I sort of like observing fandoms rather than trying to be the main players in them. I think the best thing you can do is start a discussion or two about characters and plots and such and analyse why they are the way they are and you can get to know people like that. It's a little more logic and a little less creative though. And keep up the icons, your fandom secret graphic is pretty enough to tell me you're good at it!

29

[identity profile] fatchocobo.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, thanks! I'm really proud of my icons and graphics, although I'm a lot more used to doing forum signatures these days.

2.) Heather is awesome! Must get that from her dad (Harry), which is equally awesome.

I LOVE YOU.

And that's all I have to say about that.

[identity profile] wondermilky.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
11 - I think Gumshoe/Edgeworth makes a lot of sense, actually, and to me it's a lot cuter than Edgeworth/Phoenix. XD

23 - Brittas Empire! I haven't seen that show in probably a decade, but I remember loving it.

29 - Same here, except not exactly. I guess I don't mind not fitting in.

1. I felt exactly that way about the Dragonriders of Pern universe, though I wasn't fixated on a character, I'd reread the Hatchings. But you know, Dinotopia was a close second.

5. Sigh. Yeah. I know someone like that.

22. XD I'm sorry, I'm really sorry, but I laughed a little at that one. But sympathetically--I know I've wanted to throw my DS out the window, or put a foot through my TV from time to time. So yeah, fucking dogs!

(Anonymous) 2007-09-01 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that awful/wonderful feeling of being so caught up in a fictional universe it feels like you really belong there instead of boring stupid here is one of those nerd childhood rites of passage. It happened to me several times, but Dinotopia was by far the worst. It was a rainy day and I finished the book and went to my room and cried, because I knew I would never be able to go there.

4. Who wouldn't? He's such a clumsy sweetheart.

6. I don't really do femmeslash, but Namine/Kairi is so much love.

11. Thank god I'm not the only one!

26. Haha, I cheered, too. But I didn't like her that much, either.

2. I'm so gay for Heather its not even funny. Internet needs moar Heather fanart.

10. I've re-read 1-5 more than most manga series I love put together. I still don't understand why they're so re-readable! It's awesome, though.

13. Mel Brooks is amazing. Not enough people have seen his other films. Blazing Saddles is my favorite, but Spaceballs is so underrated!

[identity profile] missmorrichan.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
12. Aw yeah! For me, personally, I pretend I'm in a Mario Kart race! Except I can't drive yet, so I settle for staring out the window and deciding other cars on the road represent other characters, and every stoplight acts as the beginning/end of a race. So glad I'm not the only one that visualizes a Nintendo racing game on the road :D

17. OOFURI SECRET! ♥

...I mean erm what now? But yes, I want Mihoshi to show up again, too! Heck, I think all the characters in that show are really intersting so far, which is probably why I like it so much! (and that scene your secret is from made me laugh so hard %D)

20. Totally <3 Gaaar, I want to play that game so bad. And your secret image reminded me; I hope Petey's playable! XD now where's bowser jr

[identity profile] mojotmonkey.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
NS1: Not all series are for everyone. A lot of us in the fandom know it's bad. But obviously it's doing SOMETHING right to have the fanbase that it does. Just don't ask us what. I think it's the pretty musical boys.
