Yeah, I'm a bit surprised that people thought it was better than Thor and/or on par with the first Iron Man film.

I can see why people struggle with choosing between thor and cap but iron man was superior to them without argument

lol. I am such a unique and special snowflake when it comes to these movies.

Because my ranking would be:

1. Captain America
2. Iron Man 2
3. Thor
4. Iron Man
5. Hulk

IDEK. I JUST HAVE REALLY AWFUL TASTE, APPARENTLY.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-10 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
lol tbh yes you do

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Oh well!

But yeah, this is why I never got into Avengers fandom stuff. lol. I was interested in and cared about the opposite of what everyone else liked.

That's a brilliant emoticon there.

LOL, grab Iron Man and put it at the top of list and that's my ranking of them, so... either only one off or four off depending on how you categorize ranks.

Just flip the positions of Thor and Iron Man 2, and that would be my ranking, too. (Though I only made it through 15 minutes of Hulk, so maybe I shouldn't put it on my list at all.) I honestly don't get why most of the world loves Iron Man so much; it was ridiculously predictable--even adjusting the scale for its being a superhero movie--and the villain's psychology was more unbelievable than usual.

Captain America is my favorite, too. I love that movie really, really hard. I

I think part of your comment might have been lost to the internet.

I think you are right.

Let's pretend it just ends after the second sentence as I have no idea what else I was going to say. LOL

Okay! :)

Squeeze Iron Man in between your 1 and 2 slots, and that's my list. Cap is love.

My ranking has Iron Man and Captain America at roughly the same place - Iron Man was a better put-together movie, to me, better pacing and the like, but I enjoyed the characters of Captain America more. After that it gets murky - I didn't see Hulk before Avengers and now I can't watch it because Norton!Banner feels wrong to me. I like Thor and IM2 but neither of them really blew me away.

(I like Avengers more than any of the solo films, but I don't think that is an unpopular opinion. Also, good response to that anon; you like what you like and anyone who takes issue with that can shove it.)

Agreed. Iron Man is a class of its own. Though I don't struggle with the other two, I enjoyed Thor more than Captain America. In fact I might even put Thor above Iron Man 2 but I don't know if that's a popular or unpopular opinion.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-10 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
tbh I saw many variations of thor, cap and im2 so I don't think it would be a unpopular opinion

Yeah, I'm never going to be unique over this! If I'm honest I found all of the lead-ins except for maybe Iron Man a bit hit and miss in terms of strength anyway.

rant incoming

da

I wanted to like Thor, but everything felt so forced. Thor's friends seemed to be just there as accessories so Thor didn't seem like a total douchebag, the love interest was coming a miles away and while it wasn't executed as badly as I was expecting, I never really cared about Jane (that was her name, right?) nor could see what Thor liked about her. She just seemed like this manufactured "you've got to like her!" kind of character and her sidekick was "oh so unique and witty" and Asgard looked so incredibly fake, pretty as it was, and Loki seemed interesting but there was something off (rushed to fit a movie, I guess) about his character trajectory, and Thor was all right, I guess, but I was more interested in all the other characters like the Norse ones.

Captain America was formulaic, but I thought it was a better movie within those constraints.
