It's possible to have a "nice" hero and still be interesting. See: Spider-Man.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-10 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope.

Still boring.

You're in the minority on that one.

People are allowed to have opinions and they do not have to justify to you or anyone else why they like or do not like something. There is no vote about it.

Well, sure, but - you're* on a site that're pretty much tailored to fandom discussions. Why not... y'know... discuss?

I could see the flat, one-dimensional denial/generalization if this was in response so some idiot going on about how it's SOOOO much better when the hero is a goody two-shoes, but if you're talking about it unprovoked, then why would you do so unless you wanted to start a conversation?

Basically, I feel like you walked into a garden party, announced that flowers were boring, had someone show you a flower they thought was cool, denounced that as boring too, and walked out. And the purpose of the party was to discuss various kinds of flowers and their relative merits. I'm gonna stop this metaphor before it runs away from me, or develops bad puns. But just... why would you do that?

*I'm assuming this is the same person from the beginning of the thread. If not, sorry, and you're right.

What? Peter Parker is a little cocky shit. That's why we love him.

But I personally adored Chris Evan's square-jawed idealism. It was refreshing.

Tobey Maguire's wasn't, and I realize I'm in the minority here, but I thought he was a more interesting Peter Parker than Andrew Garfield was. (nayrt btw)

Ehhh...I don't know. He does some pretty questionable things in the movies. But I disliked both of them.

I did too. I love how painfully sincere he is, and I love how he is the same person when he's a scrawny little weakling and when he's a super strong BAMF. That moment when pre-serum!Steve throws himself on the live grenade makes me tear up every time.

Yes! Absolutely. <3
