But MCU!Cap is a different character, and I honestly found it refreshing that he wasn't a self-righteous, arrogant bag of dicks, because that's become so much the expectation that subverting it is novel and interesting.

Not to mention the scene(s?) in which he's obviously being affected by Loki's sceptre, along with the rest of the Avengers except for Tony.
For someone dealing with recent trauma plus a ton of present day emotional stress (both situational and magically-induced), I think he's doing pretty well.
